Another picture of the Confederates swarming to the attck.

This picture shows the massive amount of troops I had delegated to this attack on the flank of the Union defenders.

The amount of troops I had swayed the Union defender to opt to retreat instead of staying to fight it out.

The Union player had a higher morale quality for his troops than what I had. I firmly believe if he continued the fight, I would most likely have been defeated. I had far too many green units to his high amount of elite units. However, he did not know this:) and who was I to stop him from pulling out.

This is a good view of my attack. A lone Union unit is left in the open trying to slow my progress. Once these Union troops were cleared, I would have to face the Union troops behind stone walls at the top of the picture. My cav can be seen to the right of the picture.

One thing I should point out...the woods in the lower right corner. This is where the Union launched a disorganized cav attack against me. That was prior to this pic. I believed I blogged about it in the battle report, but I will write about it real quick.

The Union cav came out and opted to go after a couple artillery batteries I had lagging behind the infantry. He managed some poor die rolling, allowing me to get a crack at them. After a couple of turns, I was able to unload 2 batteries of canister at close range! I destroyed the cav! They posed no threat to me for the rest of the game. I was initially concerned, but with his horse in disorder, it allowed me to focus on them before the could have been more of a threat.

This is an image of the 2nd wave of Confederates. You can see the hill was cleared and I was pressing forward. I came onto the board in 3 waves from this flank. I had another wave coming in from behind this one, as well as another wave coming to the right of the picture. I had some trouble morale wise, but I managed to push onwards despite a few setbacks.

Another view of the routed Union unit behind the works on the hill. The Union unit in the foreground was also in support. In the very top of the picture, you can see the New Glasgow militia in the corn field. If you are defending your own town, city...you are entitled to a certain amount of militia troops for defense, depending on the size of the city, town you are protecting. This is written in to the strategic rules of our campaign.

In this picture, you can see the unit my cav routed just to the lower left, on the hill behind the works. This was taken prior to the game beginning. A Zouve unit is in support. They held for a short time before they too were blasted off the field.

This is an overhead view of the attack I conducted. My main attack came from the top of the picture by the hay mounds and just to the left of them. Because I came from 2 directions for the game, I was able to get a flank attack. I used my cav to rout a Union unit off the hill, just to the left of the cornfields. I was able to get a flank attack which resulted in enfilade firing. The Union unit ending up routing off the board after a couple of turns.
